About Us
Alpha-Otto Technologies was founded in 2022 with a mission to develop new and improved energy technologies. This mission was inspired by the impressive advancements in powertrain technology made by Alpha-Otto’s co-founder, John Krzeminski. Over ten years ago, John Krzeminski, drawing on decades of experience in powertrain development with companies like Ford, Chrysler, and FEV, began exploring new ways to improve the power density and efficiency of reciprocating engines. John’s passion and efforts were motivated by the fact that, aside from small incremental improvements, the fundamental design and operation of reciprocating engines had changed very little over the past half century. Additionally, many applications from UAVs to power generation continued to rely on this old technology.
In 2018, the United States National Science Foundation awarded John a Phase I SBIR, followed by a Phase II SBIR totaling $1.2 million to support his research. This led to the development of REV Force Engine Architecture, a novel approach for enhancing the efficiency of the reaction process within a traditional two-cycle reciprocating engine. This new approach also eliminated all the drawbacks of a conventional two-cycle engine, significantly increasing power output and enabling the engine to run on nearly any gaseous or liquid fuel. This includes clean and net-zero emissions fuels like ethanol, methanol, syngas, ammonia, and hydrogen. In fact, Alpha-Otto has potentially developed the most efficient hydrogen reaction process ever created for a reciprocating engine.
In late 2021, John Krzeminski teamed up with David Dusseau, an experienced entrepreneur with a background in the energy industry, to develop strategies for bringing this technology to market and disrupting a century-old industry in desperate need of innovation. Together, John and David launched Alpha-Otto Technologies and began the challenging process of commercializing a new powertrain technology.
Over the following years, the REVforce engine architecture underwent multiple development stages, progressing from concept and prototypes to validation and testing. Additionally, both US and international patent applications were filed. Currently, Alpha-Otto holds two patents, with a third under review. We believe this new method of operating and designing reciprocating engines has the potential to significantly impact the half-billion-dollar reciprocating engine industry. However, commercializing new powertrain technologies in this traditional and resistant industry presents significant challenges. That’s why we are focusing on an application that can have the greatest impact, reduce barriers to market entry, and showcase our technology’s impressive capabilities.
Our hyperscalable power generation system, combining our powertrain technology with axial flux motor technology, allows us to build a compact, high-output, modular power generator that could revolutionize how electric power is produced and distributed. The REVflux PowerCell redefines fuel economics, capital costs, and power generation flexibility, enabling rapid scaling and deployment to meet growing and evolving demands. In 2025, Alpha-Otto successfully ran a crowdfunding campaign, raising just under $1million to further fund development. We are now seeking to raise our next round of funding from investors to complete testing, build initial pre-production units of our REV FluxPowerCell, and launch pilot projects that demonstrate the capabilities of this innovative technology.
